MetaWipe

View all the metadata in your photos

Before you share a photo, it pays to know what it says about you. MetaWipe includes a full metadata viewer that decodes EXIF camera data, GPS position, IPTC editorial fields, XMP records, color profiles and hidden embedded thumbnails — the preview that can still show a cropped or edited-out part of the picture. Everything is decoded by code running in your browser, so you can inspect even sensitive images without any file ever leaving your device.

How it works

  1. 1Drop any JPG, PNG or WebP into MetaWipe — the viewer opens automatically and even works offline.
  2. 2Browse the grouped fields: camera, GPS, dates, software, editorial data and hidden previews, each rated by risk.
  3. 3Decide what to do: keep the file as is, or clean it and download a metadata-free copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is this metadata viewer really free?

Yes. Viewing is unlimited and free for JPG, PNG and WebP — including GPS, hidden thumbnails and risk scoring. Pro is only needed for HEIC/TIFF and unlimited cleaning.

What is the hidden thumbnail warning about?

Many cameras embed a small preview of the original frame inside EXIF. If you crop or blur the photo later, the untouched preview may still be inside the file.

Can I view metadata of private photos safely?

Yes. Parsing happens locally in your browser — you can even go offline after the page loads and the viewer keeps working.
